Aldi Choceur Beglian Ghana Bar

After visiting Aldi and finding that they sell some mini Ritter Sports there..so pleased I've been managing to find a few bars around and about..reviews of them will be coming up soon, I wanted to sample some of their own brand chocolate after hearing that it was actually really really good!

Choceur Ghana Chocolate

The first bar I decided to try was that of their Choceur range, the Belgian Ghana chocolate to be specific, with so many commercial chocolate bars such as Cadbury's and Mars containing very low cocoa percentages these days it was really nice to see that this bar had 34% cocoa solids, a proper milk chocolate bar with more cocoa and less sugar hopefully!

The bar itself I thought to be honest isn't that elegantly designed if it's trying to come across as a Belgian sophisticated sort of bar and it's packaging and the way the bar is presented in its simplistic square forms certainly isn't like your continental Lindt style or even as elegant as Cadbury's blocks of Dairy Milk to be honest.

However what lets it down in appearance more than makes up for it in terms of its taste; surprisingly it is a very good milk chocolate especially when you consider the price of it. With more and more chocolate companies having to put up their prices due to the soaring prices of cocoa its superb how Aldi can produce a 100g bar of this at only 99p with 34% cocoa solids whilst Cadburys can get away with charging much more for a bar made with much less cocoa!

The milk chocolate had a very creamy rich melt that broke down beautifully in the mouth enrobing it in its rich buttery texture, the melt actually reminded me a bit of a Venezuelan based bar..extremely rich and delicious!! Whilst the flavours presented gave good hints of sweet caramel, fudge and toffee; this bar wasn't overly sweet but still creamy and sweet enough to satisfy milk chocolate lovers and was certainly a lot better and richer than the likes of your normal commercial stuff. All I can say is that if you're a milk chocolate lover and you're looking for a good yet cheap bar of chocolate get yourself down to Aldi!

Choceur Ghana Chocolate

Taste - 7.7/10 - A surprisingly good chocolate bar with proper chocolate tastes not just sugar!
Texture - 8.5/10 - The texture of this bar was beautiful and melted wonderfully in the mouth.
Appearance - 6.5/10 - The appearance was probably the only thing that let this bar down, it wasn't presented particularly well.
Price - 9.4/10 - Bargain!!
Overall - 8/10 - A very pleasant tasting milk chocolate bar.
