Only 4 sleeps til Christmas now and the madness is definitely starting to set in, so what better time than now to kick back, relax and enjoy a good bit of chocolate!
I've reviewed a few bits from James' Chocolates before and was always impressed that even though their chocolate tasted great and was obviously good quality, it was still a brand that was easily accessible for people and still had that "fun" feel.
If fun, delicious and reasonably priced is what you're after then these chocolate treats are ideal - it was a hard decision which one to try first but I decided to go for the 70% Ecuadorian dark chocolate Firecracker discs complete with Ancho chilli and popping candy! Normally I'm not a huge fan of chilli in chocolate, I always find that the heat is completely overpowering and detracts from the chocolates flavours; however these are perfectly balanced. The chilli adds a nice warmth to the fruity dark chocolate with just a kick of heat, whilst the popping candy thankfully isn't too much like an explosion but more of an exciting crackle to add a bit extra magic to the product. The slender size of them also means they're great for just nibbling away at or letting slowly melt on your tongue.
From the slender Firecracker discs we go to the ginormous sized Milk Salted Caramel Honeycomb Clusters..just looking at them through the packaging you can see that these are some pretty decent sized pieces...certainly no scrimping here! Crunchy, sweet honeycomb coated in a salted caramel milk chocolate these are every bit of delicious goodness you could hope for.
The honeycomb is delightful and thankfully not too sickly sweet with a generous coating of milk salted caramel chocolate. You are first hit with the gorgeously creamy milk chocolate flavours before the caramel flavour starts to build until you are left with a lovely salt tang to finish - the salty/sweet flavours pair together greatly with neither dominating the overall taste. It's just so hard to not want to go back for another boulder of this! I'd recommend that if you get either of these for Christmas you keep them under lock and key!
Taste - 8.3/10 - Both products are delicious in their own way - from the heated dark chocolate flavours of the Firecracker discs to the salty sweet honeycomb.
Texture - 8.2/10 - Both melt well in the mouth and the honeycomb is wonderfully crunchy.
Appearance - 8/10 - Look beautiful!
Price - 8/10 - The Firecracker discs are priced at £5.99 whilst the honeycomb is £6.00..great value if you ask me!
Overall - 8.1/10 - Yum! A great couple of products ideal for last minute gifts!
WHO FOR?The Firecracker discs are more likely to appeal to the older market whilst the honeycomb is really suited for anyone!
