Cadbury's Wunderbar

I love trying chocolate bars from various countries; as I've stated quite a few times the UK is severely lacking in most things ''peanut buttery", so you can imagine my delight when I received a Cadbury's Wunderbar for my birthday a couple of months back; a peanut butter core centre coated in chewy caramel and milk chocolate.

Cadbury's Wunderbar

Apparently this is a regular bar featured in Canada, where they also seem to be lucky enough to be adorned with peanut butter chocolate bars!

In terms of the packaging & description of the bar it sounded almost identical to a Star Bar; albeit with the addition of peanut butter. Star Bar used to be one of my favourite commercial sweeter chocolate bars but after trying one a couple of years back I was left feeling extremely disappointed - it seems like the recipe had been changed slightly.

Thankfully there was absolutely no disappointment here whatsoever as this bar is absolutely delicious!! The peanut butter centre is soft, sweet but has that gorgeous peanut butter flavour and is flecked with crunchy piece to add a nice bit of texture contrast.

The caramel is about the consistency of what you would find in a Star Bar/Boost and the Wunderbar possesses that same sort of overall feel, meaning that it has that gorgeously chewy, can't pull my chocolate bar apart properly, feel to it.

The chocolate is pretty much the same standard/taste you would be used to of Cadbury's, as to whether the blend was massively different it was hard to tell as in terms of actual chocolate content it didn't make up a huge part of the bar, what with it being just the coating.

Cadbury's Wunderbar

Ultimately though, I can't complain, peanut butter + caramel + chocolate = perfection.

Taste - 8.2/10 - Delicious, not too sweet, lovely peanut butter flavour.
Texture - 7.9/10 - Smooth chewy caramel and truffle-like peanut butter centre.
Appearance - 6.9/10 - The bar itself doesn't look anything special.
Price - 7.4/10 - I believe you can pick these up from Cyber Candy for £1.83, not bad if I say so myself..although it's obviously great when you get bought one as a gift...
Overall - 7.6/10 - It would be great if Cadbury's brought this bar over to the UK!
WHO FOR?Peanut butter lovers!

  1. This sounds delicious! Cadbury really do need to bring out some kind of peanut butter bar in the UK.
