Sainsbury's Swiss Milk Chocolate with Praline Filling

It's not often that I'll buy supermarket own brand chocolate bars; with the amount of options out there I'm never really all that enticed. However when I saw that Sainsbury's had revamped their Taste the Difference chocolate range...and some of them contained my beloved praline, I really couldn't resist, especially when they were on special introductory offer for £1!

Taking a glance over the back of the bar it came to my attention that infact this bar was actually a lot better than your usual commercial offerings in terms of cocoa percentage. This bar contained a decent 34%! However whilst it was good in terms of ingredients the actual look of the bar inside was quite poor; wrapped in cheap white plastic wrapping the actual bar looked very simplistic and the type of thing you might find in a 'basics' range.

Thankfully it tasted a lot better and actually I was quite surprised at how good it was; the milk chocolate is very rich, creamy & milky - very reminiscent of classic Swiss chocolate, whilst the filling was gorgeously smooth with a great nutty flavour that wasn't drowned out by sugar, which quite often is the case in cheaper made praline bars.

Letting a piece melt on your tongue to experience the smooth praline is definitely the way to eat this bar and I did thoroughly enjoy it. Despite this, would I buy it again? Probably not. If I was looking for a really indulgent praline treat I would probably buy a pack of pralines rather than this bar; however at £1 or £1.39 at its regular price if you're looking for something a bit cheaper that still delivers excellent quality then this really is a no brainer.

Taste - 6.4/10 - Decent for a supermarket offering, good creamy Swiss chocolate + rich nutty praline filling.
Texture - 8.2/10 - The texture is gorgeous, so smooth!
Appearance - 4.1/10 - The appearance of this bar is really plain/standard.
Price - 7.4/10 - At £1.39 for 100g this is a bargain.
Overall - 6.5/10 - A good cheaper alternative to a box of pralines.
