It seems to be that pumpkin spice isn't as big of a thing in the UK; although we have had pumpkin spice lattes gracing our Starbucks for 2 yeas now there doesn't seem to be a big influx of limited edition pumpkin spice flavoured goods on offer in our supermarkets/shops. Which is disappointing as I'm a big fan of most things pumpkin spice flavoured!!
Luckily enough a kind member of my family recently visited the U.S and as a surprise brought me back this huge slice of Godiva Pumpkin Spice Pecan bark. Extremely thick milk chocolate flecked with caramelised pecan nuts + a pumpkin spice chocolate swirl. To be completely honest if offered the choice I would probably never go out and buy plain Godiva milk chocolate for myself; I think for the price of it there are far better options that you could choose.
However I was extremely excited to try this bar; not only because it was a gift but also because it looked extremely unusual and different to anything I'd tried before - I've never had pumpkin spice in chocolate before!
The pecans are all mainly in the very centre of the bar; with the outer edges just consisting of thicker milk chocolate; however it's easy to get a piece of all three because of the well shaped triangular pieces. The pecans are gorgeously crunchy/nutty and add a lovely textural element to the chocolate.
The milk chocolate isn't anything particularly amazing on its own; however the pumpkin spice swirl definitely brings it up a level! It is sweet and probably on its own it would become too overpowering but because of the addition of nuts and milk chocolate it is just nicely balanced.
Does it taste of pumpkin you're asking?! Well there is a slight hint, the overwhelming flavour is your classic 'pumpkin pie spice'; however there are subtle pumpkin notes..it pretty much is just like Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte syrup in solid chocolate form!
I probably wouldn't be out in a rush to buy this again but it was lovely as a nice one off autumnal treat.
Taste - 6.5/10 -The pumpkin spice swirl is the star of the show; the milk chocolate is average.
Texture - 7/10 - Good thick chocolate with lovely crunchy pecan nuts.
Appearance - 5.9/10 - Looks good but would have liked some nutritional information on the packaging.
Price - NA/10 - I'm not sure what the person paid for this and the price isn't located on the website.
Overall - 6.5/10 - A nice change to a typical chocolate bar.
Lovers of anything pumpkin spice!
