Vanini Latte Finissimo Cacao 49% con sale di Sicilia (milk chocolate cocoa 49% with Sicily salt)

I previously reviewed Vanini's standard milk chocolate bar here and was extremely impressed with the quality of chocolate on offer; I hoped that this bar would be no different as essentially it was the same blend of milk chocolate being used; albeit with the addition of salt.

Once again the bar was beautifully packed in a card sleeve with great detailed information about the company on the inside; the chocolate bar was foil wrapped - which personally I think is a great touch, there's something nice about unwrapping a bar of chocolate from a piece of foil as opposed to just a standard cellophane wrap, it makes it feel a bit more special.

As per the standard milk chocolate bar this bar has the leading ingredient as cocoa butter, with 49% cocoa solids.

The chocolate bar itself had a really good strong cocoa aroma with light fruity notes emanating from it; initially this made me worry - I like my milk chocolate bars quite light and creamy and prefer to save the deeper more complex fruity notes for darker bars. Thankfully this bar still eats quite light and creamy - reminiscent of Lindt.

Obviously it is no where near as sweet as a commercial chocolate bar you would pick up off the shelf; however it still delivers all those delicious creamy, milky, sweet notes you hope to receive from a milk chocolate bar, with an additional richness to it. The salt is prevalent throughout the bar; however the level of salt depends on which piece of the bar you have as I found that one square I had was extremely salty; whilst another not so much. It provides a nice backdrop to the chocolate, adding another flavour dimension to it.

Personally I thought I wasn't going to enjoy this bar as much as the standard milk chocolate; what with the addition of the salt I thought it wouldn't be as nice. However I was pleasantly surprised and actually enjoyed it more; due to the rich, satisfying, luxurious melt of the chocolate bar and the length of time it lasts in the mouth, I think the salt actually helped to act as almost a flavour re-invigorator during the melt.

Taste - 9.2/10  - Equally as good as its plain milk counterpart.
Texture - 9.0/10 - Delicious, smooth, luxurious melt.
Appearance - 9.0/10 - Once again packaged to a high standard.
Price - 9.6/10 - Currently under discussions to be stocked in UK suppliers but sold online at Vanini's website for €3 for a 100g bar, what a bargain for such a great quality chocolate bar
Overall - 9.2/10 - Stunning once again.
