I was recently kindly sent this new Madécasse Toasted Coconut Milk Chocolate Bar; I had seen previously that Madécasse sold a dark chocolate version but to be honest I wasn't that interested - however the milk chocolate version was certainly more up my street.
As with all of Madécasse's chocolate bars they are packaged gorgeously; with a rustic, artisan feel to them. This milk chocolate bar has 44% cocoa solids and is decorated with toasted coconut.
The chocolate had a lovely clean snap and a wonderful aroma of coconut that floated out when I opened the bar; the chocolate itself, due to the high cocoa solids has a lovely rich melt and a gorgeous deep caramel flavour. This bar isn't sickly sweet but has a good balance between the creamy dairy notes provided by the milk and the deeper overall eat from a higher cocoa percentage.
The coconut is the icing on the cake to the eat of this bar; it adds a wonderful toasted flavour to the milk chocolate and thanks to the coconut pieces being a) on top of the bar and b) being relatively quite small they don't impede texture at all.
Normally not being a huge fan of coconut in chocolate I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this bar; it ticked all of the boxes for me, great texture, great flavour and from a company with great ethics!
