Marks & Spencer Dulce de Leche Truffles

I'd spotted some Marks & Spencer dulce de leche covered almonds before Christmas and had mentioned them to my family who were looking for ideas; however due to confusion they thought these dulce de leche truffles 'rolled in almonds' was what I was after. Thankfully the confusion resulted in me being able to try these delicious chocolates!

Marks & Spencer Dulce de Leche Truffles

Made of milk chocolate and filled with a dulce de leche filling and then rolled in almonds, these chocolates were slightly smaller than most standard truffles and were somewhere in between the size of a Malteser and say, a Godiva truffle.

The chocolate:dulce de leche filling ratio was just the right amount with a good thickness of chocolate shell to add a nice bite to the creamy milk chocolate.  The dulce de leche filling was sumptuously thick and smooth, around the thickness of the filling of a Galaxy Caramel; whilst the flavour was gorgeous, not too sickly sweet with a rich caramel flavour.

The almond pieces added a nice nibbly textural contrast and brought another flavour element to the chocolate in the form of nuts.Overall they were a thoroughly enjoyable chocolate and thankfully weren't just a Christmas special with you still being able to pick them up in store. If you're looking for a nice chocolate gift or just a treat for yourselves I'd definitely recommend them - I could just imagine these chocolates being given in some upmarket café in Europe along with your hot drink, exquisite.
