One of the new Easter products gracing the shelves this year are these new Galaxy Golden Eggs; I'd seen them floating around the shops for quite a while before deciding to pick up a bag to try. It's been quite a long time since I'd actually had any Galaxy and was quite looking forward to tucking into them.
Unlike the other Galaxy eggs that are filled with caramel these eggs are instead solid Galaxy milk chocolate, with crunchy caramel pieces, dusted in edible gold lustre. The eggs are about the size of Mini Eggs and thankfully when you pick them up not a lot of the gold lustre comes off on your fingers - which can be irritating!
They're just the right size for popping in your mouth and letting melt slightly before nibbling the little crunchy caramel pieces, which add a nice textural crunch, The taste is your usual Galaxy flavour - creamy, slightly richer, milky chocolate with a slight caramel hint from the pieces in the eggs.
Overall they're quite a nice new Easter product and they look great in the sense that they would be perfect for decorating Easter cakes/baked goods. Nothing too ground breaking but pretty tasty and won't break the bank.
Taste - 7.2/10 - Classic Galaxy chocolate, a bit of a richer more indulgent eat compared to the likes of Cadbury/Nestle.
Texture - 7.8/10 - Nice contrast between the chocolate/crunchy caramel pieces.
Appearance - 8.3/10 - Look nice, the gold lustre doesn't come off on your fingers either! Would be great as a decoration.
Price - 8.0/10 - I picked these up for £1, so definitely affordable.
Overall - 7.8/10 - I can imagine that these will be sticking around for quite a few years to come.
Galaxy chocolate lovers. Anyone looking for something nice to decorate their Easter baked goods with.
