Magnum Double Peanut Butter

This site is normally dedicated to pure chocolate reviews; however there are sometimes occasions when I am offered the chance to review a product that is chocolate related in some way  that I just can't refuse. This most recently being the new Magnum Double Peanut Butter, I had in fact already purchased and bought a pack for myself before being offered the chance of a pack to review. I remember reading about the Magnum Double Peanut Butter coming out quite a while ago in the US and being extremely jealous that it hadn't been launched over here. Fear not peanut butter lovers it  has now arrived.

Magnum Double Peanut Butter

On opening my first thought was 'wow they've shrunk', I'm pretty sure that the Magnum Double are always smaller than the regular Magnum's due to the higher calories from the additional sauce layer but they seemed even smaller than normally, probably to fit into their nutritional guidelines, with all Magnums now needing to be under 250kcal, maybe that means the other ones have shrunk too, I'll have to buy some to see.

Described as 'velvety peanut butter flavour ice-cream enrobed in a chocolate flavour coating, followed by a luscious peanut butter sauce layer, finally wrapped in a layer of cracking Magnum chocolate' my first thought was 'wait what? Chocolate 'flavour' coating? Are they not using proper chocolate?' Thankfully this is just a small layer that separates the ice cream from the peanut butter sauce layer so you still get to enjoy the classic Magnum chocolate on the outside.

Fairly obviously if you don't enjoy peanut butter flavoured things you won't enjoy these, but if you do then you're in for a treat. The peanut butter ice cream is lovely and creamy and the peanut butter sauce layer adds an additional hit of nutty flavour. The two chocolate flavours add a nice textural crunch to the ice cream which makes for a thoroughly enjoyable eat, although I must say I did think the outer Magnum chocolate did taste different to the regular Magnum Classic, maybe this was just due to it being paired with peanut butter ice cream as opposed to vanilla.

Either way it was still delicious and I'd have no qualms about paying and picking up another box of these again, I'm a huge peanut butter lover and always feel that there's not enough of it in other products on the UK market. If you love PB as much as me then you will most definitely want to pick up a box of these!

Taste - 8.5/10 - Really tasty, good peanut butter flavour.
Texture - 8.3/10 - Smooth ice cream, nice crunch from the double chocolate layer.
Appearance- 7.5/10 - They looked a bit small but overall they look nice enough.
Price - 7.0/10 - They'll vary from price depending on which supermarket you buy them from, with the regular price being around £3.25, which makes them just over a £1 each, I'd wait until they were on special to be honest, they probably will be somewhere!
Overall - 7.8/10 - Something for all peanut butter lovers!

 Peanut butter lovers.

Most major supermarkets should stock these.
