Bean & Pod Milk Chocolate Caramel Peanut Bites

I discovered Bean & Pod at the Speciality Fine Food Fair last month, a brand new UK chocolate company it was their launch debut, where they were showcasing a whole range of delicious looking products. Being the huge peanut butter lover than I am one that particularly stood out was these Caramel Peanut Bites. Fast forward a few weeks after the show and I was lucky enough to have a box sent out to me for reviewing purposes.

Bean & Pod Milk Caramel Peanut

Described as "creamy peanut butter and crispy puffed rice with a luxurious ayer of smooth caramel coated in milk chocolate" they sounded utterly delicious, using a 34% milk chocolate too I wasn't too worried that these were going to be cloyingly sweet.

Presented in a pretty looking card box the Caramel Peanut Bites themselves are fairly substantial looking, good, big chunky pieces that you immediately want to get stuck into!

Cutting one in half the layers didn't look as cleanly defined as they did on the picture and on other caramel/peanut products I've tried, the filling all kind of seemed to blend into one.

This was evident in the eat where instead of a distinct layer of caramel and then creamy peanut butter/puffed rice you get a mixture of all three together. I'm sure when I tried this at the Speciality Fine Food Fair this wasn't the case and the caramel was a clean layer so maybe I just got a bit of a funny box. Either way though they still taste delicious and reminded me of a really good quality peanut butter Toffee Crisp (p.s. Nestlé there's an idea for you) with the overall chewy texture from the blended caramel/peanut butter and the crispy puffed rice pieces.

The chocolate itself is the perfect balance between salty/sweet, with a lovely rich, salty peanut butter flavour sweetened with the caramel and creamy milk chocolate.

Things normally have to go dreadfully wrong to find a peanut butter chocolate that I don't like but I have to say these were pretty good and at £3.99 in a pretty gift style box they're really good value for money. With Bean & Pod's vast range of products I'd certainly be keen to try some more after sampling these!

Taste -8.1/10 - Perfect balance between salty and sweet. Good peanunt butter flavour and good quality, creamy, milky milk chocolate.

Texture - 7.0/10 - Not sure whether I got a funny box with there being no distinct caramel layer but was a lovely chewy satisfying texture none the less with nice textural contrast addded from the crispy puffed rice pieces.
Appearance - 7.6/10 - Presented in a nice, giftable box. Decently sized bite pieces.
Price - 8.5/10 - £3.99 is really good value for money.
Overall - 7.8/10 - A tasty peanut butter and chocolate offering.
