M&M's Cookies & Screeem

Along with the delicious M&M's White Pumpkin Pie I was also lucky enough to get these M&M's Cookies & Screeem brought back for me from the U.S. As the fun play on words would suggest these M&M's are a Halloween spin on Cookies & Cream, the M&M character on the front certainly appears scared enough by the prospect.

M&M's Cookies & Screeem

Essentially these are a double chocolate layered M&M, a thin dark chocolate exterior that lies beneath the splattered white black crunchy candy shell and a white chocolate centre. I was wondering how the flavour of cookies & cream would come through - wouldn't it have been better to have had some crushed up cookie pieces in the white chocolate centre? I thought so but waited until I'd eaten them to pass ultimate judgement.

M&M's Cookies & Screeem
As I feared these weren't particularly cookies and cream-esque, they were just a dark chocolate and white chocolate M&M and even then I didn't feel the flavours worked particularly well together. The dark chocolate overpowered the white chocolate so you're left with kind of a bitter/muddled eat which wasn't particularly pleasant and didn't allow either type of chocolate to shine. In fact they tasted a bit cheap and artificial.

I applaud M&M's for trying something different with their double chocolate coating, it's certainly a lot more innovation than what's going on over here in M&M's but unfortunately it just didn't really pay off. I stick to my original thought that these could have been a whole lot better had they been executed with a white chocolate centre with pieces of crushed cookie.

I certainly would be pouring these in the bowl to give out to trick or treaters if I got any around where I live as I can't imagine these will be one I'll go back for again. A bit of a disappointment unfortunately.

Taste - 3.0/10 - Cookies & Screeem...yeah right? Poor enough to make me scream in horror alright.
Texture - 6.5/10 - Standard crunchy M&M shell and chocolate filling.

Appearance - 7.2/10 - These did look pretty cool in terms of the double chocolate filling, shame looks aren't everything.
Price - 3.3/10 - In the U.S these are around a few dollars. In the U.K you would have to buy them online at around £5+, not worth it in my opinion, even in the U.S where they're a lot cheaper.
Overall - 5.0/10 - A very average offering.

Anyone not looking for a good cookies & cream flavour! You may enjoy these if you're just after some sort of double chocolate experience.

These were purchased at Target, in the U.K you'll also be able to get them on eBay and various other import websites.
