Cadbury Dairy Milk Oreo Sandwich

Dairy Milk & Oreo is obviously a flavour that's working for Cadbury as we've had quite a few iterations of it already, in a variety of formats, the newest being a bag of Dairy Milk Oreo bites (similar to the bar that's already out) and this new Dairy Milk Oreo Sandwich. In some sort of weird Inception like creation the cookie sandwich is sandwiching a big slab of chocolate.

Described as "milk chocolate with 20 biscuits and a vanilla flavour filling (11.5%)" . I'd imagine actually splitting ready made Oreos in half to use in this bar would be quite a laborious task; so instead what they've done is use the cookie element of the Oreo on the top and bottom of the bar and created a vanilla filling to sit underneath the top Oreo. Thus replicating what you would find in a standard Oreo, and make it look like the chocolate has been sandwiched.

I'm not a big fan of Oreos by themselves, but I loved the chocolate covered Oreos, so for me this was even better due to the ratio of chocolate : Oreo being much higher. You've got the classic, sweet Dairy Milk flavour and the slightly, salty, bitter Oreo cookie which when eaten together make a delicious combination.

The vanilla filling is slightly different to what you would get in a standard Oreo and if I'm not mistaken I think it's actually the same recipe that's used as the main component of the filling in the standard Oreo bar, it's got a similar texture - but is only really distinguishable if you disect your bar like I did. It adds a nice additional element of sweetness but I think it could have done with a bit more filling.

Sitting down with this bar I could have quite easily eaten it all in one go, the crunchy cookies and smooth chocolate make it incredibly moreish. I love using chocolate as a toppping on things like oats and I can imagine this would be perfect, easy snappable cubes, no filling that melts too quickly yet combining two components for an additional taste experience. I'd love to see this in a white chocolate version - can Cadbury please bring Dream back!!?

Taste - 7.6/10 - It's nothing ground breaking but it tastes pretty good, sweet Dairy Milk chocolate + slightly bitter Oreo cookie.
Texture - 8.3/10 - Perfect ratio of chocolate:cookie.
Appearance - 8.6/10 - I think this bar looks great.
Price - 8.0/10 - Bought this for £1.50 at Asda.
Overall - 8.1/10 - Simple but tasty bar, the only thing that could make this infinitely better is if it were in white chocolate.

If you're a fan of the other Cadbury Dairy Milk + Oreo iterations then I'd imagine you'll enjoy this.

So far I believe only Asda have this.
