I absolutely adore caramelised (blond) white chocolate, but up until recently the only options really were 1) expensive/hard to find brands such as Valrhona Dulcey, Godiva, The Chocolate Society etc and 2) Caramac (if you can even call that chocolate, which it's not, it's more of a confection). That is until now, with the launch of this M&S blond white chocolate bar, which forms part of their Swiss range.
For those of you that don't know blond chocolate is formed using the same base as white chocolate, but is often cooked for longer or the milk/sugar is caramelised to give a caramelly colour and eat to the bar. If done right it is absolutely delicious.
Described as "A unique recipe with aromas of caramel, shortbread and fresh toasted notes - which stands it apart from milk and white chocolate", the bar comes in a 100g format and is easy to split into decent sized snappable pieces. Upon opening you're greeted with a gorgeously sweet, rich, caramel aroma that just makes you want to dive in immediately.
The aromas that you're met with most definitely come through on the eat, it is sweet, which caramelised white chocolate is, but also extremely well balanced. The perfect harmony between creamy dairy notes and sweet, buttery, toasted caramel flavours. In other words utter heaven.
The melt is smooth and indulgent and I found myself quite easily wanting to finish the bar off all in one go, this is a bar I'd buy time and time again and I love how unlike other bars this one is easily accessible both on price point and convenience of purchase. A top notch bar for any caramelised white chocolate lovers and if you haven't tried this before I most definitely recommend it!
