Ritter Sport Caramelised Almonds

Winter time, the smell of warm caramelised nuts fill the air, it may be February now but it's still so darn cold...and hey even in the summer I'd more than happily welcome a bar of caramelised almond chocolate! Along with the Ritter Sport Spekulatius bar reviewed here, Amy from New Treats also kindly sent me this Caramelised Almonds bar. Yum!

Ritter Sport Caramelised Almond

As with all Ritter Sport it weighs in at 100g coming in a solid square shape format with easier to break off cubes. Unlike some of Ritter Sport's nut bars, which use whole nuts, this bar has small pieces of nibbed caramelised almonds which are dotted throughout the 30% milk chocolate bar.

The chocolate has wonderful, deep, rich cocoa notes balanced against a milky backdrop with the caramelised almonds adding a sweet, slightly burnt/toasted nutty flavour. It's well balanced and not overly sickly. I actually really rate Ritter Sport's base milk chocolate, for a mainstream chocolate bar, it's pretty good.

With regards to the textural element of the caramelised almonds sometimes I can be a bit funny when it comes to adding small nibbly bits to my bar, I often feel like they can impede the melt if not executed correctly. However I found they just made this bar incredibly moreish, they're just the right size and distributed evenly throughout the bar. I also really think the caramelisation process as helped to lift the eat, unlike regular nibbed almonds as these have been caramelised they offer a crunchier eat.

I'd love it if Ritter Sport made more of their bars easier to get in the U.K, currently there's just the main few that grace the major supermarket shelves and the occasional lucky find in Aldi/Lidl. Until then we can but hope and be appreciative of friends who send you goodies like this!

Ritter Sport Caramelised Almond
Taste - 8.1/10 - Rich, creamy milk chocolate. Toasted caramelised nuts. Well balanced.

Texture - 8.4/10 - Very moreish due to the nibbly, crunchy pieces of almond.
Appearance - 7.7/10 - Looks fine.
Price - 8.4/10 - I'm not sure how much this is in Germany, I'd imagine around the € 1 mark.
Overall - 8.2/10 - Another tasty offering from Ritter Sport.

WHO FOR?
Definitely for those who enjoy nutty chocolates.

WHERE TO BUY?

This was a winter edition bar in Germany, I'm not sure whether you can still get it over there but in the U.K I'd imagine a hunt through eBay would be your best bet.
